Love Stories - Lisa Przystup
Where are you from?
Falls Church, Virginia.
Occupation ?
Writer and sometimes florist.
Favorite thing about your hometown ?
There was a pond where we'd catch tadpoles and a trail where we'd get lost as kids.
Favorite flower?
Wild roses.
If you could be any plant what would you be?
Porcelain vine. I once found some pushing through a corrugated steel fence on Wythe and holy fuck those blue berries are mesmerizing as all get out.
How did you end up doing what you do?
I ended up writing because I loved it and applied the most Type-A checklist to getting to where I wanted to be that I almost didn't get to where I wanted to be. Actually, now that I think about it I'm still so far away from where I want to be. Flowers were a glad intermission between pursuing my writing dream and settling for writing to make money.
Favorite piece of jewelry?
My engagement ring. I've never owned anything so daunting and beautiful and intimidating in my life.
Gold or silver?
Both for different reasons.
Style icon?
Bianca Jagger/Angelica Houston/Lauren Hutton
What are you reading right now?
Zadie Smith's new book. Instagram. The New Yorker.
What are you listening to right now?
Right this very moment, The Suburbs album by Arcade Fire. Harry Belafonte. Wolves by Phosphorescent. The first unmixed, unmastered song of the album my husband is working on.
What is the most important thing you've leavened in 2016?
Shit can and will hit the fan.
